When to go

The weather in Lardos
You are guaranteed hot sunshine, low humidity levels and no rainfall throughout the long summer months in Lardos. Daytime temperatures from June through September will head up to and sometimes over 30C. The summer evenings are warm at 23C and the spring and autumn months also bring impressive temperatures of 20C and over. Swimming is available for much of the year, even as late as November, and the winter months will still be warm at 15C although some rain should be expected.

Airport and transport need to know
Direct four hour flights from most UK city airports are available to Rhodes Airport (RHO) all year round. May through October will see more flights available; although flights may be less frequent for the rest of the year they will usually come with lower rates. Rhodes Airport provides a bar, restaurant, banks, car hire and metered taxis. Transfer time to Lardos will be approximately one hour with a fare of 70 euros (£55) per car; taxis can carry up to four passengers.
A transfer by shuttlebus is another option and you can independently book this service online; the fare will be around 22 euros (£18) per person. Car hire is another good option that will allow you to explore Rhodes and prices start at 123 euros (£100) per week. The main roads on the island are in good condition with driving on the right.
The best beaches in Lardos
Rhodes is regarded as having some of the finest beaches in Greece and the island does seem to have more than its fair share of idyllic beaches. Many of these unspoilt stretches of golden and white sands have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness, water purity and safety features. Lardos is lapped by the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea waters that are ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving. You will not be disappointed with the beaches in Rhodes if you are looking for secluded little bays or lively resort beaches.
Lardos beach is set in a beautiful bay with lush green hills as its backdrop. This long sandy beach is popular with families and is the perfect place to relax on a sun lounger and swim in the warm sea waters. The sea is shallow here and safe for children to play in and there are tavernas and beach bars along the seafront. Watersports are available at Lardos beach and you can also test your skills at the nearby go-kart track.
The famous village of Lindos is only 15 minutes from Lardos and you can try a wide range of watersports at St Pauls and Lindos Bay. You can enjoy windsurfing, catamaran sailing, scuba diving, wake boarding and hire boats for a day on the water. The beautiful village is one of the most visited on the island and there is a good selection of bars, restaurants and tavernas that are open late into the evening.
There are plenty of quiet stretches of sand in Lardos but for the ultimate in tranquil and picturesque beaches take the short drive south to Glystra. This beautiful beach boasts fine golden sands and is surrounded by lush greenery. This is a quiet beach that never gets too busy although there are some facilities such as sun loungers for hire.
