Ixia Things to Do

The beach at Ixia is known as one of the most fashionable on Rhodes and there are many sandy bays and coves dotted all along this coastline. The choppy waters are very popular with windsurfers and other water sports enthusiasts. There are secluded coves at nearby Psaropoula to relax and enjoy the views over the waters to the mountains of Turkey.

 

Ixia water sports can include surfing, sailing and pedalos. There are two water sports centres in Ixia that will provide jet-skis and windsurfing equipment. Nearby Rhodes Town is the place to go for diving enthusiasts, and dive centres will provide lessons and excursions to the best dive sites in Rhodes.

 

Sightseeing in Ixia can include the popular romantic walk at Monte Smith that provides amazing views over Ixia. The mini train will take holiday makers to the Old Town of Rhodes Town, and the ancient acropolis is a short walk from Ixia. The nearby resorts of Ialyssos and Kremasti are worth a visit if only to enjoy the beautiful beaches.

Day trips from Ixia can include the old world charms and cosmopolitan restaurants and bars of Rhodes Town. Hydrofoils make the 45 minute trip every day to Marmaris in Turkey from Rhodes Town harbour. The largest water park in Europe is based Faliraki with enough rides and water chutes to merit more than one trip. Boat cruises can be taken to the beautiful Greek island of Kos to view the ancient Roman market, the beautiful harbour and the stunning beaches.
