Ixia lies on the north west coast of Rhodes, a mere four kilometres from the vibrant and historic capital city of Rhodes Town. Ixia will appeal if you are looking for a beach resort within easy access of the traditional and cosmopolitan restaurants, bars and nightclubs of the capital city. The beautiful beach at Ixia is well maintained with many nearby hotels and self-catering apartments. The close proximity to Rhodes Town means that trips to Marmaris in Turkey and the picturesque island of Symi can be included on Ixia holidays. But as with all holidays in Rhodes it is the beautiful beaches at Ixia and nearby Ialyssos and Kalithea that will prove to be the biggest attraction of all.

Best Beaches in Ixia
The Greek island of Rhodes is famous for its beautiful, unspoilt beaches and clear blue Aegean and Mediterranean Sea waters. The beaches around the coast include pebble, golden and white sand, and many have been awarded the coveted European Blue Flag for cleanliness and safety features. Rhodes is home to some of the most picture postcard beaches in the world and it’s very easy to find a secluded bay or a lively resort beach.
Ixia Beach is a mixture of public and private beaches; some of the private beaches belong to the hotels along the seafront. This is a very convenient pebble and sand beach and is home to two watersports centres where you can try windsurfing, jet skiing and boating. There are plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars nearby and sun loungers can be hired on the beach.
If you are looking for a more secluded beach with fewer crowds then stay on Ixia but walk south to find a sandy beach with crystal clear waters that are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The further south you walk the less crowded the beach becomes and this is the perfect place to just relax on the sand and enjoy the peace. The shallow waters are very calm and ideal for children to play in.
For a beautiful and famous beach take the short trip eight kilometres south of Rhodes Town to Kalithea. This beach provides magnificent views and a day can be spent here relaxing on a sun lounger under the shade of a parasol.
