Vassiliki Things To Do

Beaches
Vassiliki beach resort features a long pebbled beach, though sandy at the Ponti end. If you want to explore other nearby beaches, then you can hire a local boat to take you to Porto-Katsiki, Alektori and Agiofil beaches, although the locals are usually happy just to direct you if you want to make your own way. With a craggy, mountainous backdrop, you can fill a holiday to Lefkas island with exploration for tiny, secluded, white sandy beaches looking over the clear blue water of the Ionian sea. The adventurous visitor can even hire mountain bikes to make the most of the hilly inland terrain, and elsewhere horse-riding lessons are available.

Watersports

For the sporty type, holidays to Lefkas wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Vassiliki. Vassiliki’s harbour, around which the village has built its fishing industry, has become recognised in recent years as one of Europe’s best windsurfing destinations. Windsurfing holidays in Vassiliki cater for every level of windsurfer; the morning breeze across the bay is gentle, allowing beginners the chance to take windsurfing lessons from one of the bay’s RYA accredited windsurf centres; while ‘Eric’, Vassiliki harbour’s famous thermal wind, arrives with impressive regularity in the afternoon to deliver perfect windsurfing and sailing conditions for experts. Vassiliki holidays lend themselves to other watersports too: sailing features heavily with those ever-reliable and predictable winds across the harbour, and you can hire laser sailboats and catamaran, while the early morning calm is ideal for wakeboarding. Sea kayaking and scuba diving are amongst the other watersports available to try in Vassiliki. If you’re looking for a less serious side to the sea, the Panos Fun Park has a range of rides and activities for a fun-packed family holiday.

Eating and drinking

Of course holidays in Vassiliki aren’t just about watersports. As a fishing village, there’s a fantastic choice of restaurants where you can sample delicious, freshly caught fish. The nearby villages of Agios Petros and Sivros are also great places to find local cuisine. Vassiliki village also has a nightlife to rival Lefkas on the north coast of the island, as the harbour lights act as a beacon for the social scene. An array of bars and traditional Greek tavernas ensure a party atmosphere for visitors, many of whom arrive by yacht.
