Lefkas Town provides a wonderful array of both traditional and modern bars, restaurants and tavernas. There is even a nightclub or two, although Lefkas is not known for the party scene. Life centres round the main square and what better end to the day than relaxing with a cool drink and watching the yachts come and go from the marina. During daylight hours there are lots of shops and all the local amenities such as banks can be found in this lovely Capital.

Beaches
Lefkas Town has no beach of its own but is a good base from which to explore beaches such as the famous wind-surfing destination of Vassiliki or the unspoilt Perigiali or the livelier Nidri. There are many secluded coves to be found around the coastline and small motor boats are available for hire. Be brave enough to tackle the 300 steps down to Egremni and the beach will probably be yours alone.

Sightseeing
Unspoilt fishing villages such as Lygia and Nikiana are close by and are well worth visiting to enjoy the quiet local tavernas serving freshly caught fish dishes along with a glass or two of the local Vertzamo wine. Climb to the monastery of Faneromeni and you will have superb views over Lefkas Town and the lagoon at Yira. Take a stroll along the many trails and you will find traditional villages and beautiful countryside. The waterfall at Vafkeri is a lovely sight in spring when the water is fast flowing after the rainy season. As Lefkas is attached to the mainland by a swing bridge, exploring the Greek coast up to Parga is also an option.
Excursions
As you would expect, there are many boat trips available. Catamarans sail round the many small islets such as Skorpios, once home to Aristotle and Jackie Onassis. There are two international sailing centres on Lefkas and yachts are available to hire with or without a skipper, depending on your experience.
Festivals
Lefkas Town plays host to an international folk festival in August which attracts groups from all over the world. Traditional music and dance displays make for a colourful spectacle.
