Platys Yialos Weather

The beach at Platys Yialos sits in the established resort of Lassi on the south-west coast of Kefalonia, just 3km from the capital, Argostoli, and 5km from the international airport. The beach is considered to be one of the best on the island, and thanks to the typically Mediterranean climate, is a haven for sun-seekers all summer long.   

 

Although the tourist season in Platys Yialos runs from May to October, the weather in April is warm and relatively dry, with average daytime highs of 18C, 7 hours of sunshine, and 58mm of monthly rain. Visitors in the spring can explore the region before it gets too hot, and enjoy walking and cycling holidays to discover the beauty of the Kefalonian countryside. May heats up in Platys Yialos, with highs of 23C, 9 hours of sun and a little less rain, and by June the resort is enjoying average temperatures of 27C and up to 11 hours of sunshine. The beaches are the place to be at this time, especially as the rain is virtually non-existent and the sea temperatures reach 26C - meaning ideal conditions for swimming and water sports peak season months of July and August experience the hottest weather, with temperatures of 30C and 13 hours of sunshine each day, with the higher humidity tempered by the cooling coastal winds.

 

September remains hot and sunny, with average highs of 27C, however the level of rainfall does increase to 46mm, and by October the weather is much wetter, with Platys Yialos seeing 135mm of rain. The temperature is still warm, with highs of 22C, and there is 7 hours of daily sunshine. Low season months experience mild conditions, with temperatures of 13C in the coldest months of January and February, and thanks to plentiful rainfall in the winter, the island remains lush and green throughout the year.
