Weather in Pessada – Mediterranean climate in the south of the island
The traditional fishing port of Pessada lies on the south coast of Kefalonia, just 10km from the capital, Argostoli. With an unspoilt atmosphere, the tiny beach resort is ideal for a peaceful relaxing stay on the island, and thanks to its typically Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild winters, Pessada remains a quiet haven for sun-worshippers during the long tourist season.
Pessada Weather - Dry warm spring days, hot summers on the beach
Spring sees warm weather in Pessada, with April enjoying highs of 17C, and as much as 7 hours of sunshine each day. These pleasant days are ideal for exploring the south of the island and taking walks, hikes and bike rides in the countryside, and remain fairly dry, with just 58mm of rain falling. The weather warms up in May, with Pessada seeing daytime temperatures of 22C, however the sea remains cold, only reaching 18C. By June the town experiences highs of 26C, and visitors begin to venture to the beach, where the water temperature reaches 22C. There's an abundance of sunshine in these summer months, between 9 - 11 hours each day, and the humidity begins to increase, although being on the coast, the weather never seems too hot. During the peak season period of July and August, Pessada basks in temperatures of around 29C, with July experiencing 13 hours of daily sun, and as little as 12mm of rain. These months also see night-time temperatures of 18C, meaning pleasant evenings in the local tavernas, drinks outside and walks around town. August sees the warmest sea temperatures, with the waters of the Ionian reaching 26C.
Weather in Pessada - Wetter autumns, mild winter climate
September sees a drop in humidity, however the days remain hot with the daytime highs hovering around 29C. There is an increase in rain, with up to 43mm falling, and by October, Pessada can see much wetter weather, with as much as 133mm falling during the month. Temperatures remain around 21C, and there is still around 7 hours of sunshine each day. By November and December, there is plenty of rain, around 160mm - 180mm monthly, and the temperatures drop to 13C in December. January and February are the coldest months, with highs of just 12C, when the sun still shines for 5 hours each day.
