Pessada Things To Do
Beach
The small undeveloped beach in the bay is a haven for quiet sunbathing, and there are other little secluded coves around the resort to discover. For alternate beaches head to Agios Thomas, Trapezaki or Lourdas, or the busier Lassi, just 10km away.
Water sports
Thanks to the crystal-clear water, there's excellent conditions in the bay for snorkelling. For more extensive water sports, head along the coast to one of the more commercial beaches, such as Lourdas.
Boat trips
Pessada has a fishing port, and the local ferry service takes passengers on scenic trips across to the neighbouring island of Zante each day.
Walking and hiking
The rural countryside inland is ideal for exploring on foot, and the ancient paths and walkways leading through the olive and citrus groves offer wonderful terrain for walks, hikes and bike rides. Karavados, a little village inland, lies just a mile from Pessada, and is home to a natural spring and some spectacular views.
Dining
The facilities are limited in the sleepy village, but there are a couple of local tavernas serving traditional Greek specialities, especially freshly-caught fish. For more choice, head to the capital, Argostoli.
Day trips
Visit the local winery at Pessada for tours and tastings, or take the local bus that departs the village for Argostoli. Monasteries to visit include those at St. Andreas, St. Gerasimos or Sisia on the road to Skala. Other excursions include the Loggerhead Turtle Sanctuary at Kaminia, or the island's attractions of Melissani Lake and Drogarati Caves.
