Lourdas Weather

Lourdas lies on the southern coast of Kefalonia, and offers an excellent base for a stay in this part of the island. Boasting a typically-Mediterranean climate, Lourdas experiences hot dry summers and mild winters, and sees wonderful beach weather during its long tourist season.   

Lourdas Weather - Warm spring climate, great for sightseeing and exploring 

There's warm spring days in Lourdas, with April seeing highs of 17C, and 7 hours of sunshine, and this weather ideal for sightseeing in the south of the island, and enjoying scenic walks and bike rides. Rainfall is fairly limited, with 58mm falling during the month, and the sea remains chilly, only reaching 16C. May begins to heat up, with Lourdas seeing highs of 22C, and 9 hours of daily sunshine, and by June the resort experiences temperatures of up to 26C each day. Visitors head to the beach for leisurely sunbathing, and the humidity begins to increase at this time, with minimal rainfall, as little as 16mm during the month. July and August are the peak season months, when Lourdas basks in 29C weather and 12 - 13 hours of sunshine each day, and the beaches are the place to be, especially as the warm waters of the Ionian Sea reach 24C - 26C. Rainfall continues to be virtually non-existent during the summer months, with just 12mm falling during the driest month of July.         

 

The hot weather continues into September, with highs of 26C and 9 hours of sunshine, however the rainfall does increase a little at this time, with 43mm falling during the month. October begins to cool down, with highs of just 21C, and there is a dramatic rise in rain, with the resort receiving an average of 133mm. Winters are mild but wetter, with November and December seeing 160mm - 180mm of rain each month, and the coldest months of January and February experiencing highs of just 12C.
