Lixouri Weather

A friendly and prosperous modern working port on the east side of the Pari peninsular (directly facing the capital Argostoli) Lixouri enjoys a typically-Mediterranean climate: hot dry summers, and mild, wetter winters. The maximum summer temperature in Lixouri is 30C – so remember to pack your sunscreen! Indeed, with little or no rain through the tourist season, a summer holiday break in Lixouri means you can enjoy day after day of uninterrupted sunshine. The average winter temperature is a cool 14C. Expect rainfall throughout this season.  

 

The summer holiday season in Lixouri stretches from June to September, with temperatures in July and August reaching 30C – perfect for topping up your tan at Lepeda beach with its fine golden sand. Throughout July expect 13 hours’ sunshine. September means a slight drop in temperature, making leisurely strolls around nearby unspoilt fishing villages, such as Mihalitsata and Ankrotiri, manageable and a real pleasure.

 

Autumn in Lixouri (October and November) brings ideal weather for exploring local olive groves, orchards and vineyards, as the temperature drops to a comfortable 20C at this time. However, with the summer behind you now, occasional cloudy skies and rainfall are inevitable. The onset of winter means increased rainfall, of course, and a drop in temperature to an average of 14C throughout December, January and February. As the weather ‘turns the corner’ in March, warmer days return. By the end of April, the rains will have as good as gone for months ahead, and the agreeable daytime average temperature of 18C can only mean one thing if you are a history-lover – that trip to the fascinating ruins of the ancient city of Pali at Palaeokastro you’ve been promising yourself all year.
