Weather in Katelios – Mediterranean climate on Kefalonia’s south coast  

Located at the extreme south of the island of Kefalonia, Katelios enjoys a typically-Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild, wetter winters. The maximum summer temperature is 30C (July and August) and rain is unlikely throughout the summer season. That means summer sunshine from the first day of your holiday break to your last is virtually guaranteed. The average winter temperature is 13C, and you will need to allow for about 12 days’ rain per month through the winter season.

The summer season in Katelios stretches from June to September, with an average of 13 hours’ sunshine per day in July. If it’s a summer rather than a spring break in Katelios you seek, but slightly cooler temperatures would suit you better, then wait until September to fly out as an agreeable 25C remains a constant through this month. That would be ideal weather, not only to enjoy watching the world go by in the restful atmosphere of the pretty village, but also to explore the surrounding area in a pleasant, comfortable heat.

 

The autumn season in Katelios begins in October, with temperatures gradually dropping week-by-week through October and November (to around 19C) until the arrival of the winter season from December to February. Over these months expect cloudy skies, increased rainfall, and the need to wrap up warm at night as minimum night-time temperatures in Katelios can drop to as low as a 5C. The average temperature throughout March and April (spring-time in Katelios) is 19C. As the rain markedly decreases and summer approaches, this could be the time to fill your water bottle, pull on your hiking boots, and explore the rocky hills which surround the village and offer good views.
