Fiskardo Things to Do
Beach
Fiskardo has a small shingle beach where you can sunbathe, swim or even snorkel.
Harbour
The harbour at Fiskardo is a draw for tourists as the visiting yachts and colourful local fishing boats bobbing on the water make for classic picture-postcard stuff. And at night, after a fish dinner, an evening stroll around the quayside could be a delight as you watch the stars shine off the water, and, in tandem, reflect upon another enjoyable day.
Eating Out
When it comes to finding a good little restaurant for a family meal or a romantic dinner-for-two, you certainly won’t be stuck for options in Fiskardo. The small and cosy working harbour is lined with restaurants where the food is always fresh and a friendly welcome is guaranteed.
Nightlife
As well as the numerous holiday restaurants, there are cafes where you can get a tasty bite after a long day exploring the rugged hills and landscapes of cypress trees and olive groves. And if it’s a cool beer or two that you fancy, Fiskardo has some traditional Greek tavernas and bars clustered around the cobbled harbour waterfront.
Excursions
If you ever feel like a change of scene for an afternoon, or even just for a couple of hours, there are plenty of excursion options available to you. Why not catch the ferry to the tiny but pretty port of Frikes on Ithaki Island – renowned as the most authentic island of the Ionians. Or if you would rather stay closer to home, you could hire a small motorboat and set off to explore some of the secluded coves and lagoons to each side of the village.
Ancient Sites
For history-lovers, trips to ancient Byzantine and Palaeolithic ruins are all ‘must see’ excursions from Fiskardo. The short journey to Mandouki and the Monastery of the Virgin Platytera there is well worth the effort as the Monastery contains rare post-Byzantine icons.
