Fanari Weather

One of several resorts along the south-west coast of Kefalonia, Fanari is ideally situated, being near the capital Argostoli and also Lassi. Fanari enjoys a typically-Mediterranean climate: hot dry summers and mild, wetter winters. With at least 12 hours’ sunshine daily throughout June, July and August, and average temperatures in July and August reaching 30C, Fanari truly is a sun-worshipper’s paradise. And what’s more, you can expect little or no rain when the holiday season is at its height. The average winter temperature in Fanari is 14C. Expect rain during this season, generally amounting to about 12 days of rainfall per month until March arrives.

 

The tourist season in Fanari stretches from May to September. July has 13 hours’ sunshine per day as the temperature reaches 30C. With June and August being just a little cooler (but only by a degree or two) you’ll still need your sunscreen. A dip in the sea at the famous Lassi beaches nearby (or even a spot of snorkelling) will prove the perfect way to cool off. At each end of the holiday season, i.e. in May and September, the temperature hovers around 24C and 25C. This makes excursions from Fanari more comfortable.

The autumn season in Fanari is basically all of October and November. Expect rain at times, as days can often alternate between being sunny or cloudy. The average autumn temperature is 19C – ideal weather for a stroll through local picturesque villages. December to February is Fanari’s winter season when temperatures average out at 14C. Expect rain and the need for an extra layer of clothing at night. Spring in Fanari soon comes around, however. And as rain in March and April becomes less frequent, and as the average temperature rises to 17C, Fanari readies itself once more for another tourist season where uninterrupted sunshine is virtually guaranteed.
