Avithos Things to Do

Safe swimming for all the family, simple stretches of sandy beach only a short walking distance away, waterside tavernas where a cool drink can help quench your thirst on another sunny afternoon.  Avithos holidays can offer you all this and more. In fact, when it comes to visiting other beaches nearby, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Why not check out Ammes Beach (with its orange-coloured sand), or neighbouring Megalipetra Beach which is both secluded and often uncrowded. The kids could have a good time there playing on the stretches of fine golden sand or paddling in the shallow water – peace of mind for Mum and Dad. Helis Beach is close-by and is another good option when it comes to choosing where to go to top up your tan.

For watersports enthusiasts, Avithos is the ideal place to ‘set up camp’ and then head for the livelier Makris Yialos Beach, only a short drive away. Once there you could enjoy a range of water sports, including: wakeboarding, water-skiing, jet-skiing, banana rides, and more.

 

Avithos is renowned as a nature-lover’s paradise. Imagine exploring a wonderfully fertile region where flowers, herbs, olive groves, and citrus plantations abound.  For birdwatchers, the birdlife in the region is well worth a look.

 

Just inland from Avithos there are several charming villages which ooze country charm of Greece. Spend a relaxing afternoon with friendly local people in a simple taverna in nearby Svoronata, Koukoumelata, Metataxa or Caligata.

Although Avithos cannot offer you an exciting nightlife, with bustling bars, packed restaurants and lively discos, Argostoli certainly can. As the main port in Kefalonia, the island’s capital is definitely the place to head for if you feel like livening your holiday up a little, as it is only a short distance away – just 6 miles, in fact.
