The small island of Kalymnos makes up part of the Dodecanese archipelago, and, like all of the Greek Islands, enjoys a pleasant Mediterranean climate. Dry summers with high temperatures are perfect for a relaxing beach holiday, whereas warm comfortable days in the spring and autumn offer the ideal conditions for the many avid rock-climbers who flock to the island.
Weather in Kalymnos - Hot dry summers, with high winds
During the height of the summer temperatures on Kalymnos can reach upwards of 30C, with the average highs in July and August peaking at 29C. These hot months are cooled dramatically by the prevailing winds which blow from the north, the 'meltemi', beginning in June and strengthening all summer until September. Gusty winds also help to keep the humidity down, and provide refreshing breezes on the beaches, and great conditions for sailing and water sports. Kalymnos is blessed with plenty of clear sunny days, with the sun shining almost constantly from May to October.

Spring and autumn sees temperatures on Kalymnos reaching between 16C-20C, with mild generally dry days still seeing 7-8 hours of sunshine. The weather is more unpredictable, with showers quite common during April and May. Heavy rainfall can be expected during the winter months, when the days are still mild with average temperatures of 13C.
