Platanias Weather

The popular resort of Platanias boasts idyllic sunshine to match the beautiful surroundings throughout the season. From April through to late October temperatures can range from 19C to a scorching 29C, making this the perfect destination for you to top up your tan! On holiday here, you can enjoy up to 13 hours of sunshine in July with only moderate humidity, making it the perfect getaway destination to soak up the sun for long hours on the soft, sandy beaches.

 

Because Platanias is located along the northern coastline of Crete, Mediterranean winds are present along the beaches, providing a welcome breeze in the heat which reaches up to 29C in July and August, when holiday season is in full swing. Wind-breakers are readily available for rental on the beach and will come in handy towards the early evenings during your stay. Should you feel like an evening stroll along the extensive beaches, the weather will be more than accommodating, with the night time temperatures in the evening ranging from 15C to 21C throughout the summer months.

 

In the months outside of the holiday season, the weather in Platanias is still fairly enjoyable. In November, temperatures can still hit up to 19C for around 5 hours a day, while in January when the coast is at its coldest, the lowest temperature it will get is 14C; still far hotter than many holiday makers home climates! The rainfall is relatively sparse as well, with the highest average rainfall coming in January with 137mm.
