Makriyalos Weather

The beautiful beach resort of Makriyalos is located on the sunny southeast coastline of Crete, an area that receives over 300 days of sunshine per year. The all year round sunshine in Makriyalos makes this an ideal holiday option throughout the year. Peak summer temperatures in Makriyalos can reach up to and above 30C, and the winter weather will be mild at around 18C. The climate in Makriyalos is fairly stable all year round with the main variation appearing in the form of rainfall from October until March.

 

Hot weather lovers will find the climate inMakriyalos ideal. The eastern and southern areas of Crete are the driest and warmest parts of the island. From May onwards the temperature will begin to creep past 25C and rainfall will become practically non existent during the summer months. July and August are the peak summer months and temperatures in Makriyalos can easily head towards 38C. Sea temperatures are only a few degrees less than air temperatures and September is considered one of the best months for swimming. The temperature in Makriyalos will usually hit its peak during August and sunshine levels will be high at around 12 hours of hot sunshine per day.

 

Outwith the summer months the weather in Makriyalos is generally warm and sunny. Although the rainy season does appear from October until March the showers can be heavy but are generally short-lived. Winter holidays in Makriyalos will usually be mild with temperatures just under the 20C mark. The spring and autumn months will see an abundance of sunny weather and the month of November will still bring temperatures of just over 20C. For hot weather a holiday in Makriyalos will hard to beat at any time of the year.
