Livadia Weather

Livadia is located in the south-western part of Crete, on the tip of the island, 72km west of Chania. This small traditional seaside village lies in some stunning countryside, and boasts a wonderful Mediterranean climate. Livadia experiences hot dry summers and mild wetter winters, and, like the rest of the island, enjoys a long tourist season running from April to October.

 

Spring is a very popular time to visit the village, when the average daytime high is 20C and there is 9 hours of sunshine. As Livadia is located in the middle of the famous E4 hiking route, many visitors choose this warm early part of the season for their holiday, and take advantage of ideal conditions for outdoor activities. There's little rainfall at this time, but the spring showers help to keep the countryside green and lush. May sees temperatures rise to 23C, and by June, Livadia experiences average daytime highs of 27C, and as much as 12 hours of sunshine each day. This summer weather is ideal for visiting the glorious beach at Elafonisi and relaxing on the coast. Rainfall decreases in the peak season months, with virtually no rain seen from June to August, and the high temperatures of 29C tempered by the cooling meltemi winds from the north. The coastal waters off Livadia reach 25C in August, with the warm waters ideal for swimming.

Autumn remains hot and sunny, with September seeing average daytime highs of 27C, and the season winding down in October, when Lividia enjoys highs of 24C. This is also a good time for walking and hiking, although there is more rain during October, with 6 wet days in the month. Winters remain mild, with average daytime highs of 15C - 17C from December to February.
