Kamisiani Things to Do

Beach
The long sand and pebble beach at Kamisiani is the main attraction here, perfect for lazy days sunbathing and swimming, and relishing the peace and tranquillity of this stretch of coastline. For a livelier day on the beach, head to Platanias, Gerani or Agiia Marina.

Walking & Hiking
For a change from the beach, explore the region on a walk or hike along one of the many trails and paths, past quiet villages, old monasteries and through lush olive groves whilst enjoying stunning views of the mountains in the distance.

Countryside
This part of western Crete is also a haven for bird-watchers, with the rich agricultural land and coastal cliffs home to a range of species.

Boat Trips
Boats depart from Platanias and head along the coast to hidden coves and bays, and offering snorkelling trips. From Kissamos port, further west, there are daily trips to Gramvousa Island and Balos Bay for some spectacular scenery and a real taste of unspoilt Crete.

Chania Town
The main town, Chania, in western Crete lies 25km away and offers a fascinating day out, with its Venetian architecture, charming town centre and historic museums. Take a day to visit and choose from one of the waterfront eateries or backstreet tavernas for a leisurely meal, after strolling through the streets soaking up the culture and history of the town.

Day Trips
Explore the coast or the charming towns and villages of the interior, such as Therissos in the White Mountains, or tour the nearby monasteries. Head to the historic town of Rethymnon, hike along the famous Samaria Gorge or take a trip to the capital, Heraklion and the Minoan Palace at Knossos.
