Kalo Chorio is on the north coast of the island of Crete, 6 miles south-east of Agios Nikolaos and east of the capital Heraklion. The resort is ideal for those looking for a north-coast resort with good beaches but wanting to avoid the big developed resorts found in this part of Crete. Visitors here will share a small laid-back town with the locals. Kalo Chorio is a quiet relaxed place with a modest selection of tavernas and shops. Holidays in the town enjoy fine views of the coast, as the resort is built on a hillside. The resort is much more traditional in feel than its bigger and livelier neighbours.

Holidays in Kalo Chorio are for relaxation, sunbathing and an intimate taverna meal. Shopping is pretty limited but the village does have a good market selling local produce like fruits, nuts and cheese. Again, Agios Nikolaos is the place with more variety. Nightlife is limited to a few quiet tavernas shared with the locals. This is not a resort for those that want to party, though Agios Nikolaos, with a much livelier scene, is just 6 miles up the coast.

Kalo Chorio beaches are impressive, popular and can be reached on foot from the resort. Kalo Chorio has three main beaches all of which are sandy. Visitors can take advantage of the neighbouring resort of Agios Nikolaos, a busy lively harbour town sitting on the western end of the scenic Gulf of Mirabelle, backed by olive groves and rocky mountains. Agios Nikolaos has plenty of shops, cafes, bars, tavernas and nightlife into the early hours. Take a boat trip to visit nearby islands like the famous island of Spinalonga with its Venetian fortress. Other possible excursions here are to Knossos Palace, Heraklion or traditional Crete villages inland.
