Hersonissos Weather

With a holiday season spanning all the way from May to October, the weather in Hersonissos is superb. The sun-kissed beaches which are perfect for sunbathing and relaxation can get as hot as 27C throughout July and August, so sun-block is a must! With minimal rainfall (an average of just 2mm in the summer months), your holiday in Hersonissos will be unspoilt. There is also a prominent breeze to be found on most of the beaches in Hersonissos, great for cooling off.

 

The temperature drop in the evening is nominal in the summer months, with night time temperatures ranging from 13C to 20C in the holiday season. The cooler climates at night make great conditions for long walks along the lively promenade and offer a reprieve from the day’s ever-present sunshine. In areas such as Malia where partying is a priority, the cool breeze is an ideal escape from the heat and intensity of the indoor bars and clubs which make the nearby resort such a hotbed for nightlife.

 

While there is an increase in rainfall between the months November and April (a high of 169mm of rain in January), these months are ideal for discovering other areas of the island away from the beaches; The rich mountainous terrain of Old Hersonissos, where you can sample a real sense of life in Crete with the immaculately preserved old houses on show, is best explored in cooler temperatures. Temperatures from November to April range from 13C to 18C, still far from the frosty climates many holiday makers experience at home.
