Georgioupolis Things to Do

Beaches
The long sandy beach at Georgioupolis is the main attraction, and stretches for 10km along the north coast. It is home to tourist facilities such as umbrellas and sun beds, and a choice of beach bars and cafes.

Water Sports
Nearby, visitors can indulge in banana boat rides, windsurfing, paragliding, scuba-diving and sailing.

Sports
Various hotels in the resort offer swimming pools, tennis courts, volleyball, table-tennis and billiards for guests. Jeep safaris are available nearby.

Fishing
Georgioupolis is home to three lakes, which run from the freshwater lake at Kournas and out into the sea, forming the natural harbour, where fishing boats take visitors out along the coast.

Boat Trips
Regular boats depart from the harbour along the coast, taking visitors to hidden coves and nearby resorts, as well as out on day trips to Spinalonga Island and Santorini. There are also boat trips out on the lake, and pedalo rides.

Walking & Hiking
The stunning countryside inland, dotted with vineyards, olive groves and with the scenic White Mountains as the backdrop, is ideal for walks and hikes, with plenty of routes and paths to follow. Horse-riding and cycling is also available, and is an ideal way to get up close to the natural beauty of the region.

Day Trips
The waterfalls and springs of Argiroupolis and the natural lake at Kourna, home to local terrapins, are nearby, whilst Chania and Rethymnon are easy to reach. The capital, Heraklion, is a popular day trip, as is Knossos and the Samaria Gorge.
