Amoudara Things to Do

Beach
The Blue Flag beach at Amoudara is the main attraction, and is one of the longest in the area, running for 5km and boasting clean sand, safe waters for swimming and plenty of amenities, such as umbrellas and sun beds.

Water Sports
Windsurfing is popular here, and the resort has facilities for jet skiing, banana boat rides, pedaloes, water skiing, canoeing, paragliding, scuba-diving and snorkelling. Motor boat rental is also available.

Sports
There are pools, tennis courts and fitness centres in the various hotels, and also facilities for volleyball, basketball, mini-golf, table-tennis and billiards, with bike rental available, and horse-riding nearby.

Entertainment
Amoudara is relaxed and low-key, but has a number of bars, restaurants and tavernas, as well as a cinema and open-air theatre, and a few clubs and discos. Many of the hotels host themed evenings such as Folk Nights, and regular competitions, quizzes, games, and magic shows.

Heraklion
Just 5 km away from Amoudara is a major attraction, Heraklion, the capital of Crete. Buses run into the city from Amoudara on a regular basis. Here, there's excellent shopping, dining and entertainment in this modern city, yet plenty of historical sites to see.

Day Trips
Amoudara's central location means it is ideally placed to tour the island, with day trips including the ancient Minoan palace of Knossos, just 12km from the resort, as well as boat rides out to Spinalonga, tours of the Lassithi Plateau, visits to Rethymnon and Chania, and even overnight trips to the Samaria Gorge.
