Aghia Galini Weather

Located on the central south coast of Crete, Aghia Galini experiences a typically Mediterranean climate with hot dry weather and an abundance of sunshine during the year. Being on the south coast, the resort is guaranteed to see some of the best weather on the island, and the average daytime temperature remains at 14C, even in the coolest winter month.

 

Spring sees very pleasant warm weather in Aghia Galini, with March and April averaging around 18C - 20C, and the sun shining for at least 6 hours each day. Monthly rainfall levels range from 28mm - 50mm during this time, and the humidity level is moderate and comfortable. The weather heats up in May, reaching 23C, and by June has risen to 27C, with an average of 12 hours of daily sun. The water temperature rises to 21C, and by August and September, the sea temperatures has reached 24C - 26C - ideal for both swimming and water sports. Rainfall in the peak summer months is non-existent, and humidity levels are at their highest.

 

The weather in the autumn remains warm and sunny, with September seeing daytime highs of 25C, and October still enjoying temperatures of 23C, with 7 hours of sunshine. The rainfall does increase in October, with the resort receiving 56mm during the month, rising to 87mm in November. December - January is the wettest time in Aghia Galini, with 91mm - 95mm of rain respectively, and over 15 wet days in the month. January sees the lowest temperatures of 14C.
