things to do in Roda

Beaches

The main Blue Flag beach stretches for a mile, and features safe shallow waters and limited tides, ideal for family swimming. Roda merges with the neighbouring resort of Acharavi, with the beach incorporating both sand and shingle, and plenty of sun beds for hire.

Water Sports

The water sports centre offers waterskiing and paragliding, as well as fishing trips and the chance for boat hire to explore the region, but for more extensive water sports head to nearby Sidari. Diving holidays are also available along the north coast, for all levels of enthusiast.

Boat Trips

Numerous boat trips depart from the harbour at Astrakeri, and set off around the shoreline, and to quiet neighbouring islands such as Erikoussa and Mathraki. Trips include barbecues and parties, sunset cruises and visits to local villages along the way.

Day trips

There are lots of excursions to cultural and natural sights around Corfu. One of the most popular is a visit to the Achilleion Palace. Built in 1890 by Empress of Austria, Elisabeth of Bavaria, with the Greek god Achilles as its central theme, the palace featured in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only.

Walking & Cycling

The hilly countryside inland is good for exploring on foot or by bike, and there are many paths and tracks to follow, some leading through some of the numerous olive groves and others trailing along the coastline.

Horse Riding

Horseback rides are offered both along the coast and through the countryside, and, with many different treks available, it's an ideal way of seeing the beauty of the region first hand.

Water Parks

Visitors to Roda have two water parks close by, including the largest on the island, Aqua Land, as well as the smaller Hydropolis, both a good option for families, and an alternative to the beach.

Entertainment

Although the resort is small, there's still a good choice of entertainment options, from televised sport, quizzes, karaoke nights, bingo and live acts, to bars and cafes, and a good choice of tavernas and restaurants. There's always the chance for a traditional Greek Night featuring good food and authentic dancing, and children will enjoy the bouncy castle, amusement arcade and go cart track.
