Aghios Georgios (South Corfu) Weather

Located on the south west coast, Aghios Georgios (south) lies just 30km from Corfu Town and offers a family-orientated beach resort. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate and hot dry summers, the average peak season temperature of 29C and 11 hours of sunshine make Aghios Georgios an ideal base for a relaxing holiday on Corfu's coast.

 

The tourist season in Aghios Georgios begins in May, when the island is in bloom and the weather is warm but a little changeable. May temperatures reach 23C with 9 hours of sunshine, and there is 47mm of spring rainfall, with this early season weather good for walking holidays and hiking in the lush countryside, and exploring the island before it gets too hot and humid. June heats up to 28C, with the sun shining for 11 hours each day, and during this month the long sandy beach here begins to fill up with visitors. There's limited rainfall, and throughout the summer period there is only around 11mm - 19mm falling each month. By the peak season months of July and August, Aghios Georgios is basking in highs of 31C and there is as much as 12 hours of sunshine each day, accompanied by high humidity. Evening temperatures reach 18C, ideal for relaxing evenings having dinner or drinks outside in the tavernas and bars.

 

The hot weather continues into September, with average temperatures of 27C and 9 hours of daily sunshine, however there is more rain, with 74mm falling during the month. By October, the season is coming to an end, although the resort still enjoys 23C weather and 6 hours of sunshine and the beaches are nice and quiet. October does see a dramatic rise in rainfall, as much as 147mm during the month, rising to 206mm in both November and December, with this wet weather helping to keep the island lush and green throughout the year.
