The coastline at Fuengirola is clean and well-kept, and incorporates a number of sandy beaches, including two recipients of the European Blue Flag, Las Gaviotas-Boliches, which runs along the main promenade, and Torreblanca, at the Benalmadena end of the resort. Las Gaviotas is bigger and wider, but both beaches have plenty of facilities, such as life guards and extensive watersports on offer, with Torreblanca also boasting a childrens’ play area and pedalos to rent. The modern promenade in Fuengirola is the longest in Andalusia, and is lined with palms, colourful flowers and shady spots in which to sit and enjoy the wonderful views of the sweeping bay, and during the summer months attracts many buskers, entertainers and street vendors. Compact and easy to get around, Fuengirola offers a lively centre, full of high-rise accommodation complexes and busy shops, bars and restaurants. The bustling port down at the seafront in Fuengirola is still busy with local fishermen bringing in their catch of the day, and is a great spot for tourists to take a fishing trip or leisurely cruise along the coast.

The busy town of Fuengirola is full of great places to eat, with the popular area opposite the port, Fish Alley, having plenty of bars and restaurants, serving a wide range of international food. Traditional Spanish fish shacks, ‘chiringuitos’, line the seafront and English food can be found throughout Fuengirola. Whilst holidaying in Fuengirola, activities to enjoy include, watersports, sailing, golf and horse-riding, with mini-golf, bowling and go-karting readily available. Day trips in Fuengirola include the local zoo and the aquapark, and the area is rich in historical sites, including the Moorish Sohail Castle.
