St Florent Holidays
The small fishing port of St Florent sits on the northwest coast of Corsica, at the beginning of the Cap Corse peninsula and just over 40km from the international airport of Bastia. With a colourful yet relaxed atmosphere, the town is reminiscent of a resort on the French Riviera and holidays in St Florent will doubtless involve strolling past the yachts in the marina, choosing from one of the gourmet cafes and restaurants, relaxing on the beach in the wonderful warm Mediterranean climate and exploring the stunning countryside beyond the resort.
Charming old quarter, great sandy beaches
Holidays in St Florent are best suited for those looking for an upmarket picturesque resort, with a wealth of activities such as sailing and watersports, and an ideal base for exploring the northwest coast and inland regions. A compact town, the length of St Florent can be walked in 10 minutes with the old town a warren of narrow streets, charming squares and pastel houses and home to one of the island's most beautiful cathedrals. The lively quayside is lined with a sophisticated selection of waterfront cafes, bars and restaurants, and is the perfect holiday spot to relax and enjoy a drink or dinner whilst watching the luxury yachts come and go. With a sheltered sandy beach just outside town, St Florent is ideal for swimming and sunbathing, and there are watersports and activities such as jet-skiing, kayaking, sailing and diving to keep everyone busy. The more isolated beaches of Seleccia and Loto further south can be reached by car or boat.
Visit Corsican vineyards, tour unspoilt villages inland
St Florent offers the visitor the chance to tour the stunning north west of Corsica and experience all that this beautiful region has to offer. St Florent is ideally placed to tour the vineyards of the Nebbiu region which produces some of the island's best wines, with many visitors following the tempting 'route des vins' to various wineries offering tastings. Hire a car and visit the wilderness region of the Desert des Agriates, or tour the northern peninsula of Cap Corse with it's narrow winding coastal roads and rugged cliffs hiding tiny ports. Travel inland and drive through enchanting traditional mountains villages or take a boat-trip from St Florent harbour to some isolated and unspoilt beaches and coves.
