Propriano Things To Do
Beaches
There are a choice of sandy beaches in and around Propriano, including the popular Plage du Phare, and neighbouring spots at Porto Pollo, Campomoro and Cappiciolo. The beaches of the east coast are also accessible, including the island's best-known beach, Palombaggia.
Water Sports
Propriano is a popular base for water sports, with active visitors able to indulge in jet skiing, windsurfing, waterskiing and sailing. The rocky coves around Propriano and the clear waters of the Bay of Valinco offer excellent conditions for diving and snorkelling, and a dive school is based in the resort.
Boat Trips
From speedboats trips to fully-crewed catamaran cruises, ferry crossings to glass-bottomed boat trips, there are plenty of boat rides departing from the lively harbour, which make the scenic trip up and down the rugged west coast.
Walking & Hiking
Avid walkers have a wealth of ancient trails and footpaths to follow in the majestic hills that flank the town, with plenty of rugged scenery and coastal views to enjoy. Serious hikers can head out on one of the many organised walks that cross the island, or head to the mountainous region of Alta Rocca, a popular walking and climbing area, dotted with ancient villages.
Biking & Horse Riding
The spectacular terrain is ideal for cycling and horse riding, with organised rides and treks for all levels of enthusiast, and a host of bridle paths to follow in both the countryside and along the coast. Mountain bikes can be rented in Propriano, whilst horse riding and traditional donkey rides are offered around Sartene and in Baracci.
Sports
Facilities for swimming, tennis, gyms, football and mini-golf are available in the resort, and a world-class golf course, Golf de Sperone, is located near Bonifacio. The more adventurous can indulge in hang gliding, parachute jumping, canyoning, canoeing and river rafting up in the mountains.
Thermal Baths
The prehistoric site at Filitosa is close by, as is the Baracci thermal spa and the ancient capital of Corsica, Sartene, famous for its wines. Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio are stunning towns with plenty of history, sights, shopping and dining, whilst the city of Ajaccio is an easy day trip.
