Porto Things To Do

Cultural Porto
The majority town of Porto was built in the 1950s to promote tourism, but that doesn't mean visitors on a holiday to Porto will find discovering the cultural side of the town a difficulty. You can still join one of the many tours to explore the 16th century watchtower, "La Tour Genoise", standing sentinel over the sun kissed town. Included in the tower visit are tickets to the local heather museum, with exhibits dedicated to the local wildflower. Heather has played a vital part in the regions history, as it is integral to local craft production. For a sense of real relaxation, why not visit Porto's aquarium, and take in the visually stunning displays from the sea life collected from the Gulf of Porto.

Gulf of Porto
For those seeking adventure, their Porto holiday can be easily tailored to accommodate them. The Gulf of Porto is famed for having some of the most beautiful diving spots in the region, and there are a number of schools willing to take on beginners. Once in the sea, visitors will be able to explore the cliffs of Capo Rosso as they plunge into the ocean, creating a breathtaking landscape or go lobster and barracuda spotting along the Capo Cenino. For those wanting an underwater plant safari, the seabed of Ficajola will treat visitors to a multicoloured ocean floor delight. Visitors can also join chartered boats to the fabulous sculptures of the Calanches de Piana, the cliffs of Scandola and the tower of Girolata.

Dining in Porto
Visitors on holiday to Porto can sample a number of local delicacies at the town's many bars and restaurants. The region is famed for its clementines and vineyards, so the wine comes highly recommended. Gourmands can also sample the local wild boar, veal and the world famous Corsican Cabri.
