Porto Vecchio sits on the southeast coast of Corsica, on the Gulf of Porto Vecchio, and is accessible from both Figari and Ajaccio airports. With no beach in town, visitors flock to the stunning shoreline just south of the resort, and holidays offer no shortage of options for a relaxing days' sunbathing. The beaches around Porto Vecchio have an almost tropical quality, boasting translucent turquoise waters and powdery white sands with the most famous, and perhaps busiest in high season, being the picture-perfect Palombaggio Beach. Other notable beaches to visit if staying in Porto Vecchio include Santa Giulia and Rondinara, both of which offer sheltered stretches with shallow waters, perfect for swimming. There is also plenty on offer for watersports enthusiasts, with facilities for water-skiing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, and scuba-diving.

Weather in Porto Vecchio
With an excellent annual sunshine record and summer temperatures regularly heading over the 30C mark it is not hard to see why Porto Vecchio is such a popular destination for British holiday makers. From May until September Porto Vecchio is as warm and sunny as you would expect from any Mediterranean island resort. July and August are the hottest months and you will receive around 10 hours of hot sunshine per day. For many holiday makers June is the ideal time to visit; cooler than the hottest months yet still warm enough to swim in the warm sea. There is very little rain during the summer months and any rain tends to stick to the late autumn and winter months.
