Piana Things To Do

Explore Piana
The reason Piana holidays are so popular may be because Piana is widely considered to be one of France's most beautiful villages. All it takes is a quick stroll round the streets of Piana for you to make up your own mind, which shouldn't be too hard when you're taking in the fantastic view, as the village overlooks the gulf. The visually stunning white houses of the village, set out like an ampitheatre, and the church of Sainte Marie are ideal for those seeking an aesthetic holiday to Piana. There are also a number of hidden cobbled streets and craft shops to explore.

Calanches de Piana
In between the village of Piana and Porto can be found the Calanches de Piana, man-made granite sculptures that change in colour from orange to red depending on what time of day you visit them. There are also a number of caves nearby, called "Taffoni", that were inhabited centuries ago by the first people who arrived on the island.

Beaches
The closest beach to Piana is the Plague d'Arone, which requires a four km walk from the church place. Visitors can add a spot of adventure to the walk by visiting the Marina of Ficaghjola or the hamlet of Vistale to take in more of the local architecture and maybe pick up a bite to eat.

Walking Tours
Piana family holidays are best spent exploring the island by foot, and Piana proves to be the ideal base for a number of walking tours. Located less than 4km from the sea, and with sights like the "Calanches" so close by, securing yourself a place on one of the guided walking tours is an excellent way to discover places that only the locals tend to know about.

Dining
As one of the oldest settlements on Corsica, no holiday to Piana would be complete without sampling the local food. Piana has a number of bars and restaurants where visitors can sample a number of delicious local dishes and taste wine from the island's vineyards.
