Algajola Things To Do

Water activities
On holidays in Algajola, water sports are a great option. You can snorkel from the rocks at the north-east end of Aregno Plage, entering the water from the sandy beach. You'll see many fish and even small octopuses. Snorkelling is also worthwhile from the rocks under the citadel of Calvi. At Aregno Plage, if the wind is up and the waves are high, you can also body-surf on your Algajola holiday. Aregno Plage is also a great spot for windsurfing, water-skiing, scooters and kayaks, and there's a diving school on the beach.

Beaches
On a summer holiday in Algajola, you can't fail to find some great local beaches. Follow the coast road towards Porto from Calvi, and you'll find a lovely beach at Golfe de la Revellatta. If you're feeling brave, come down by car – otherwise you can negotiate the bumpy road on foot. While there, try to visit Notre Dame de la Serra and enjoy the view of the Calvi bay and Cap Corse. The Calvi bay beach is very friendly for people on a family holiday, with beach bars and tennis courts. The Ile Rousse is often a first port of call for Algajola beach holidays, but it's quite central to the town and gets packed, but just 6 kms away are the stunning white sands of Ostriconi. There's a nice pebbly beach at Galeria, from where you can rent kayaks to take up the Fango River.

Nice towns and villages
If you get tired of the beach on your Algajola holidays, you can always rent a car and discover the area. There are some nice towns and villages within easy reach of Algajola. They include Calvi, just 14kms away, with its citadel and harbour front. A little further along, there's a great view from Notre Dame de la Serra. A pleasant morning on your Algajola holiday can also be spent a few kilometres away at Ile Rousse, which has a fine market featuring fresh fish and sausages. Other pleasant diversions include the artisan shops at Pigna and the chapel at Corbora.
