Ideal Corsica family holiday
Algajola holidays feature an attractive fishing village surrounded by some of the best beaches in the stunning Balagne region of Corsica. The medieval centre with its citadel is prettily set on a peninsula, and has plenty of atmosphere and charm. And the village still retains a working fishing harbour. Algajola will appeal to those looking for a relatively quiet Corsica resort and  offers a much more low-key atmosphere than neighbouring Calvi and Ile Rousse. Having said that, Algajola does offer a good choice of cafes, bars and restaurants, and some enjoyably modest nightlife. Summer holidays in Algajola may well coincide with the resort’s enjoyable music festival. Cheap early and late-season holidays in Algajola will enjoy the village at its tranquil best.

Outstanding, relaxing Corsica beach holiday
During the day holiday activity tends to focus on Aregno Beach: an outstandingly long, wide stretch of sand. Algajola Beach offers a nice mix of sand and rocky pools, ideal for families with children. The far end of Algajola Beach is a favourite spot for naturist holidays. For really quiet beaches, try the unspoilt beaches beyond Ile Rousse. Diving holidays in Algajola enjoy a good reputation, and Algajola Beach also offers rewarding snorkelling and windsurfing. No holiday should miss out on the enchanting miniature train that links Algajola with a series of beaches between Calvi and Ile Rousse.

Explore the gorgeous Balagne region
Algajola is ideally placed for exploring the gorgeous Balagne region with its tiny coves and beaches, olive groves, vineyards, citrus trees and picturesque mountain villages like Calenzana, Zilia, Speloncato and Sant Antonino. Many of these villages have fine restaurants and outstanding craftwork. Walkers, birdwatchers and nature lovers should head for the Scandola Nature Reserve, on the way to the resort of Porto.

Weather in Algajola

Algajola weather is at its best in spring and autumn. In spring the weather is mild, with temperatures around 18C to 21C. It's a beautiful time to visit, with flowers in full bloom and the island covered in wild poppies, broom and violets. Corsica in spring is a verdant place and the rivers run loud and full. This makes it a great time for sightseeing and enjoying some of the many sports and activities available on this mountainous island. Spring visitors should take a waterproof as weather in April and May can be changeable, but you'd be unlucky not to see quite a bit of sun. In June the temperatures rise and the sea becomes bathtub warm, flowers come into bloom and Algajola is quiet before the tourists arrive en masse in July. It's a great time for exploring secluded beaches, walking and seeing the sights. Algajola's great weather in July and August brings the tourists flocking to Corsica. It's sunny and scorchingly hot, with temperatures soaring into the high 30s.
