Weather in Corsica

The weather in Corsica is typically Mediterranean. However, a general overview of Corsica weather must take into account wide variations due to mountains that rise to 9000 feet. Predicting weather in the Corsican interior is further complicated by small regional microclimates. Most visitors will be interested in the weather on the coast, where the climate is much warmer. Corsica is consistently one of the sunniest parts of France, with a summer average of 10 hours of sunshine and plenty of sunny days from April onwards. A long sunny beach season lasts from the first serious swimming weather in May to the end of October, with average temperatures rising from around 20C in May to 27C in July and August. The hottest days can go well over 30C. May to September are the driest months in Corsica but the mountains create short sharp thunderstorms.
