Patong Beach Things To Do

Beaches
Set on a curved sandy bay, Patong Beach stretches for 2km and is one of the best beaches on the island. There's room for relaxed sunbathing with numerous sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as the chance for a massage, pedicure, hair-braiding session or a henna tattoo, and usually a number of friendly football games going on.

Nightlife
Not for the faint-hearted, Patong Beach's famous nightlife does not disappoint, with a colourful scene featuring a host of pubs, sports bars, clubs and discos offering non-stop entertainment. The town really comes alive at night, and the streets are packed with tourists and locals alike.

Water Sports
Patong Beach offers plenty of activities down at the beach, from jet-skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, cable-skiing and wakeboarding, to snorkelling and sailing. Boats depart on fishing trips, and there are sightseeing tours around the bay, as well as speedboat and catamaran rental.

Scuba-Diving
Thanks to the stunning underwater scenery and an average water temperature of 28C, one of the most popular activities in Phuket is scuba-diving. Patong Beach is home to a huge choice of PADI-approved dive shops and the island boasts a great many sites for both beginners and experts.

Sports
Other activities include tennis, golf, mini-golf, bowling, bungee-jumping and go-karting. For spectators, a memorable experience in Patong is watching a fast-paced Thai boxing match.

Thai Massage
The perfect place to indulge in an authentic Thai massage, Patong has a number of parlours where one can unwind and recharge, as well as beachfront masseuses at knockdown prices. Other more traditional treatments and services are available too, in the various spas and beauty salons in the area.

Attractions
Local attractions include the Snake Farm and crocodile shows, and in Phuket Town there are sights such as the Thai Village and Orchid Farm, Phuket Zoo, and the Butterfly Farm. Jungle tours and elephant trekking trips in the hills above Patong are popular.

Day Trips
There are daily ferries heading out to the Phi Phi Islands - some of the most beautiful island in the world, and located in the Andaman Sea less than an hour away - a must-see whilst in Patong. Also available are sea kayaking tours to Phang Nga to view the unique limestone caves, and trips to the stunning forests of Khao Lak.
