Patong Beach Holidays - Fast-paced commercial centre, the main tourist resort on Phuket 

The main tourist beach on the island of Phuket, Patong Beach is a vibrant and bustling base, best known for its colourful nightlife and stunning white sandy beaches. A very developed resort, Patong Beach offers real hustle and bustle, and a host of tourist facilities, with its streets packed with extensive hotels, guesthouses, bars and restaurants, and featuring a wide range of activities and organised tours.

The beach at Patong is a 2km stretch of white sands facing the Andaman Sea, and acts as a lively base for the resort. It is one of the best beaches on Phuket, and conveniently lined with hotels, bars and shops, with no shortage of things to do throughout the day. There are water sports and boat trips, and services aimed at tourists such as trinket sellers on the beach, and offers of massages, hair-braiding and henna tattoos, with the scene generally busy day and night. Quieter beaches such as Karon Beach can be found south of the resort. Patong Beach is a busy commercial centre, and a mecca for entertainment, boasting a huge amount of restaurants and bars to suit most tastes. The town boasts an extensive dining scene, from street vendors and fast food chains to 5-star gourmet restaurants, with a sampling of the delicious Thai cuisine a highlight of any trip. Shoppers will be spoilt for choice in Patong Beach, from the markets and stalls selling jewellery, clothes and electronics, to art shops and small tailors making one-of-a-kind suits and dresses at knockdown prices. Whilst in Patong, there are many day trips to take, including island tours, elephant treks, kayaking trips, scuba-diving and snorkelling excursions, and boat trips out to the Phi Phi islands.  

 

Patong Beach is the main centre for nightlife on Phuket, with an exciting scene attracting many revellers each night to its bright lights. Bangla Road is the very heart of the town, and the place for non-stop nightly action, whether it is sports bars and Western-style discos, or traditional Thai bars and some of the region's infamous 'go-go' bars, which are apparent in town but very easy to avoid.
