Karon Beach Weather

Karon Beach lies south of Patong Beach, on the west coast of Phuket, and is known for its wonderfully long white sandy beach. The resort boasts a hot tropical holiday climate, with plenty of sunshine and blue skies, with the dry winter being the peak season for visitors. Karon Beach experiences two monsoon seasons - the dry northeast running from November to March, and the wet southwestern which affects the resort from April to September. 

 

The weather in Karon Beach is ideal for lazy sunbathing and relaxing in the warm seas, which hover around 28C. The winter months see daytime air temperatures ranging from 31C - 32C, however the humidity level at this time is at its lowest of the year, and the ever-present coastal breezes help to keep conditions bearable. Karon Beach sees limited rainfall at this time, with between 29mm - 60mm falling each month, and around 7 - 9 hours of daily sunshine. Night-time temperatures can be hot, ranging from 23C - 24C. April sees the temperature heat up in Karon Beach, and the humidity level rise accordingly, as the winds begin to blow from the southwest bringing lots of moisture, and by May the rains have well and truly arrived.   

 

Conditions are decidedly hot and sticky during the humid southwestern monsoon, with this period being the low season. May sees a marked increase in rainfall, up to 350mm during the month, with the rest of the summer receiving around 265 each month until September. The sunshine hours decrease too, with the sun only shining for around 5 - 6 hours each day. September experiences heavy rains, up to 400mm during the month, however the humidity does start to decrease. October sees a little more sunshine, and by November Karon Beach experiences the affects of the dry northeast monsoon.
