A: Some UK tour operators prefer to use their own rating system, so you may see shields, sun flames or diamonds in place of the more familiar stars. Please keep in mind that there is currently no standard method of rating places to stay across the world. Many countries have differing official and unofficial ways of assessing properties. Some operators and countries may simply not use a rating system at all. The general trend is that the higher the rating, the greater the quality of the room. More facilities may be available too.
