Directline Holidays FAQs

Will all the hotel facilities be available all year round?
Some places of stay may only operate certain facilities during peak summer months when they have a higher volume of visitors. You may find details of this in the accommodation description. If you need to know, before you book, if particular facilities will be available when you plan to take your holiday, you are welcome to contact us and we will endeavour to find out for you.
Why is my hotel booked for a particular length of time?
Your hotel will be booked for a certain number of nights, according to the number of days you have chosen to go on holiday. This means that you will be able to check in to your hotel, even if you are travelling on an overnight flight. You will be expected to check out of your room on the morning of you departure. Each hotel will probably vary in the time you will have to check out of your room. If you are returning on an overnight flight you may be able to arrange a late check-out with your hotel. You can enquire about this on arrival. If you would prefer different flight times please amend them using the ‘Change your Flight’ link on the flight details section before you book your holiday. Alternatively please contact us if you wish to change the number of nights at your chosen hotel.
What is the difference between studios, apartments and villas?
We have a variety of rooms and properties types available so you can find the best suitable arrangement for your holiday.

Studios usually consist of an open plan living/sleeping area with kitchen, bathroom, 2 single beds or in some instances a double bed. Additional beds, within the studio, may be provided as sofa beds.

Apartments usually consist of an open plan living/sleeping area with kitchen, bathroom, 2 proper beds in each bedroom and in some instances double beds. Additional beds will usually be sofa beds.

Villas generally consist of an open plan lounge, kitchen, bathroom and private terrace. Beds will be in separate rooms. There may be additional private features such as swimming pools and gardens.

The above is provided only as a guide only and we recommend you carefully read the descriptions for properties on our website to see what bedroom options and facilities are provided.
What are allocated on arrival holidays?
This means that the standard of accommodation and board basis are guaranteed, but the accommodation is allocated on arrival by the holiday company. These holidays are ideal for people who want to book late and who are flexible, but not appropriate if you want to be in a specific location such as near the beach, or are seeking particular features like a swimming pool with no steps.
Some properties have star ratings and others are rated against a different scheme, why is this?
Some UK tour operators prefer to use their own rating system, so you may see shields, sun flames or diamonds in place of the more familiar stars. Please keep in mind that there is currently no standard method of rating places to stay across the world. Many countries have differing official and unofficial ways of assessing properties. Some operators and countries may simply not use a rating system at all. The general trend is that the higher the rating, the greater the quality of the room. More facilities may be available too.
How does Directline Holidays decide which hotels to recommend?
We use a variety of methods to monitor the properties we sell to ensure that we have the best available options for our customers. Your feedback and comments about your place of stay are also taken into consideration. Our knowledgeable staff have many years of travel industry experience and local knowledge, and we display Trip Advisor ratings alongside many of the hotels we have on sale to help you make an informed choice.
