Troodos Mountains Things To Do

For those who like their holidays to be energetic then hiking and cycling in the Troodos Mountains is a must do activity. The scenery cannot be beaten and you can stop off at your leisure at traditional villages such as Kakopetria, Platres and Troodos.

 

If you find the idea of sipping drinks while relaxing in one of the three outdoor swimming pools tempting then head to the mountain vacation resort of Platres. Make sure to visit the crazy Cleopatra’s shop that is run by two ageing sisters and located in a magnificent mansion.

 

There are many great restaurants in the Troodos Mountains. Dishes range from traditional beef and onion stew to oven baked lamb. For filling and inexpensive meals and a cold beer try out the local taverns dotted all over the Troodos Mountains area.

 

There is no shortage of sightseeing excursions here. Take your pick from Byzantine Cypriot churches to the wine producing villages on the southern Troodos hills. Visit the Venetian Bridges near Tres Elias village or the village of Fini where you can buy some local hand made pottery.

 

There is no shortage of sports in the Troodos Mountains. From skiing in the winter, to paragliding, mountain biking and rock climbing. If that all sounds too energetic, then take the short drive from the Troodos Mountains to the nearby beaches and bays and relax in the hot summer 30C sun and let the waves lap at your toes.
