Beaches
There are various beaches in the resort, which is a great base in which to soak up the wonderful Mediterranean sunshine. Limassol beaches offer lively spots for sunbathing and convenient tourist amenities, and include both public areas and private stretches owned by hotels.
Water Sports
For those not content to just sunbathe and swim, Limassol holidays offer a host of exciting water sports, from jet-skiing, pedaloes, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wakeboarding and paragliding, to sailing, kayaking, canoeing and snorkelling.
Scuba Diving
Year-long sunshine and clear warm waters make holidays in Limassol popular with scuba-divers, and the resort is home to a choice of dive centres and schools. There are a number of fascinating dives on offer, with sites to suit all level of enthusiast, from Sharks Cove on the Akrotiri Peninsula, to the famous Zenobia wreck.
Sports & Leisure
Swimming, tennis and golf are popular activities on any holiday to Limassol, with go-karting, bowling and jeep safaris also available. The local waterparks, Wet 'n' Wild and Fasouri Watermania, offer family-friendly entertainment, and a chance to cool off in the various pools, slides and flumes.
Boat Trips
A great way to experience the beautiful coastline, boat trips are a fun and scenic way to spend a day. They run from Limassol harbour, and include sunset cruises, catamaran rides, fishing charters and snorkelling excursions.
Explore the town
Limassol is a colourful and authentic resort, with historical sites in the Old Town including the medieval fort, the 15th-century Limassol Castle and the Archaeological Museum. Dining out is extensive, with plenty of places to enjoy both traditional fare and international dishes, and shops selling a great range of souvenirs, such as lace, embroidery, jewellery and natural sponges.
Carnival
Those visiting in the spring can experience the annual Limassol Carnival. Taking place from February to March, this colourful event celebrates the beginning of Lent, and features street musicians, parades, fancy dress competitions and parties.
Wine Tasting
There are a number of wine-producing regions in Cyprus, with vineyards around Limassol offering tours and tastings of the local vintages. In September, the city hosts the annual Wine Festival, where wine-makers offer up free samples to the public, with live music and folk-dancing, too.
