Club Turquoise, Marmaris

A good setting is the key to a great holiday. And Club Turquoise certainly doesn’t disappoint on that score. You’ll find it just outside the centre of Marmaris, about a 20-minute walk from the old bazaar. The beach is closer still. It’s an easy ten-minute stroll from the hotel.

The pool, meanwhile, is large, rectangular and stretches across a sun terrace trimmed with shrubs and palms. Thatched parasols provide plenty of shade and there’s a bar on hand for drinks and snacks. Each week, the hotel’s barbecue night takes place at the poolside, transforming the area into a stage for belly dancing and other Turkish traditions.

Inside, the décor sits at the simple end of the design spectrum. The lobby channels Tudor styling, with a wood-beamed desk, wrought-iron chandelier and terracotta-flagged floor. Chunky wooden chairs and potted plants complete the traditional set-up.

The apartments, meanwhile, are spacious, comfy and kept simple with cream colour schemes. Ottoman-style arched windows and dark-wood furniture add a traditional touch. Each one comes with a small kitchenette and air-conditioning. And while TVs don’t come as standard, you can always hire one from reception.
