Puerto Morelos Holidays
Quiet fishing village just south of Cancun
The beach resort of Puerto Morelos lies between Cancun and Playa del Carmen on Mexico's Riviera Maya, and attracts visitors looking for a quiet relaxing base on an idyllic stretch of coastline. A quaint fishing village on the Yucatan Peninsula, the resort is now home to a multitude of mainly upscale hotels, which enjoy an enviable position edged by the warm waters of the Mexican Caribbean and backed by lush tropical jungle.

The coral reef just 500m offshore is a protected marine park, ideal for scuba-diving, and the pier is the departure point for snorkelling tours and sport-fishing trips. Dining is in the form of extensive buffets featuring a host of international fare, as well as plenty of local Mexican specialities, and a la carte restaurants serving gourmet cuisine, including Thai, Japanese, Mediterranean, Italian and French food. There's casual dining too, with plenty of entertainment options in the bars and live shows, as well as regular beach parties and organised events.
Catering for couples and families alike
As well as being a popular adult-only holiday destination, with many hotels specifically aimed at couples, Puerto Morelos provides a number of hotels that cater for family holidays, and offer children’s pools, kids clubs and family facilities, and offer baby equipment for rent, with special activities such as pool parties and painting classes. Visitors can be as active as they like, with plenty of water sports, especially scuba-diving in the coral reefs, land-based sports and activities to try, and a number of day trips.
