Porlamar Things To Do

The desert island is known for its dazzling beaches, which are ideal for sunbathing and swimming, with the lively Porlamar offering plenty of convenient beach bars and restaurants too. Choose from La Caracola, Playa Bellavista, Playa Guaccuco or Playa Moreno, towards Pampatar.

 

For those looking for more active pursuits, the beaches around Porlamar offer windsurfing, water skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling, canoeing and paragliding. 

Energetic guests can enjoy tennis, volleyball and golf, with many of the hotels having swimming pools and gyms. There's hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding to enjoy, and a host of coastal villages and colonial towns, as well as the lush interior of Margarita Island, to explore.

 

There are plenty of boat trips to enjoy whilst on a holiday in Porlamar, including lively party-style boats that tour the island, dolphin-spotting trips, group fishing excursions and private sailboat rental.

 

The island of Margarita is tax-free, with Porlamar home to a number of bustling shopping centres and malls, as well as elegant boutiques lining the avenues and boulevards and a colourful local market nearby. Good buys local crafts, clothing, jewellery and alcohol.   

 

Porlamar is the entertainment capital of the island, with plenty of lively bars, restaurants and clubs, which all display the vibrant Latin American atmosphere and culture. The town is also home to the largest casino on Margarita Island.

 

Places of interest to visit include the Church at El Valle, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Diverland amusement park and El Agua Water Park. Also, nearby is the coastal town of Pampatar, and the National Park with its dense mangrove forests.
