Runaway Bay Holidays
Runaway Bay is one of the smallest, quietest and most restrained Jamaica beach resorts, attracting visitors of all ages. Runaway Bay is on the north coast of Jamaica, between Falmouth and Ocho Rios, 40 miles east of Montego Bay and its airport. Holidays here are based in a modest low-key resort on a four-mile stretch of fine sandy beaches and coves backed by attractive wooded hills. Runaway Bay attracts those looking for a relatively simple, uncomplicated Jamaica holiday based very firmly around the beach and a smattering of hotels, bars and restaurants.

Attractive sandy coves offer plenty of variety

The coast here is quite varied compared to the vast sandy stretches to both sides. Runaway Bay beaches and coves offer plenty of excellent spots for privacy and relaxation whilst also offering largely unmotorised watersports, including snorkelling and windsurfing. Runaway Bay is popular with scuba divers, with a wreck in the area. Golf fans will enjoy an 18-hole course and your holiday could also include tennis, excellent horse-riding, river trips, mountain biking and deep-sea fishing. Holidays in Runaway Bay are often offered on an all inclusive basis, with a mix of family-orientated hotels and popular adult-only options. Most dining and nightlife is found in the resort's hotels but it’s worth trying the local seafood restaurants and seeking out crafts in unpretentious markets and local stores. Excursions from Runaway Bay could easily include a trip into Ocho Rios or Montego Bay for a much bigger selection of shops, restaurants and bars.

Excellent calm central north-coast location

Holidays in Runaway Bay are ideally placed for visiting most of the interesting spots on the north coast of Jamaica from Falmouth to Ocho Rios. Popular excursions include plantations and colonial houses, the Green Grotto caves, Dunn’s River Falls, Dolphin Cove and The Bob Marley Mausoleum.

Jamaica Tourism Enhancement Fee
From May 1st 2005 Jamaica has introduced a US$10 "Jamaican tourist entry charge" which will apply to each tourist visiting Jamaica. The tourist entry fee money will be paid directly to the government in an effort to raise funds to maintain Jamaica’s tourist industry and provide capital for tourism enhancement projects.

Weather in Runaway Bay

Runaway Bay holidays can be enjoyed at any time of year. In fact, in terms of temperature there is little difference between any of the seasons.  Summer will typically reach average maximum temperatures of 30C, whilst enjoying an average of 7-8 hours of sunshine each day. Contrast this to the winter seasons when maximum temperatures can be as high as 27-28 C with around 7 hours of sunshine. Therefore, whatever time you choose to visit this Jamaican resort, you are sure to experience long warm days amongst beautiful surroundings.

All inclusive holidays in Runaway Bay

Accommodation here is a blend of luxury five star resorts and simpler, more budget retreats. The one thing they all have in common is their quiet atmosphere and laid back approach to holiday making. You'll be able to enjoy a wealth of different food options with the best resorts offering dishes from all over the globe. All inclusive holidays are really the only way to enjoy Runaway Bay as there is not much in the way of other types of accommodation, nor will you find a wide variety of shopping. For those kinds of things you need to make the short trip to Ochos Rios or Montego Bay, but once you've settled into a relaxing sun lounger you'll probably decide to leave it for another day.
