Negril Holidays

Negril holidays

Negril holidays
Holidays in Negril are popular with younger visitors to Jamaica and all those looking to relax in a resort with a less developed feel than Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. Negril is a care-free low-rise resort running alongside superb beaches on the western tip of Jamaica, 50 miles west of Montego Bay and the airport. Holidays in Negril were a firm hippy favourite in the 1970’s and the resort still retains a certain country charm and laid-back “alternative” atmosphere. Nowadays Negril appeals to a wide range of visitors with accommodation including excellent quiet family hotels and upmarket all inclusive tourist villages.

Considered Jamaica’s finest
Negril holidays centre on seven miles of fabulous beaches: the idyllic curve of sand at Long Bay and the equally amazing Negril beach at Bloody Bay. Both Negril beaches have safe gently shelving golden sand and are considered the finest beaches in Jamaica. Negril is also popular with divers and snorkellers thanks to wonderful warm water, outstanding coral reefs and caves, and several dive schools. Watersports include sailing, parasailing, water-skiing and windsurfing. Other available activities in Negril include tennis, golf, horse-riding, river rafting, glass bottom boat tours and catamaran cruises.

Amazing sunsets and tropical nightlife
Negril holidays feature an interesting nightlife scene with local bars, live music, beach parties and discos supplementing the hotel-based entertainment. Sipping a cocktail on a clifftop bar and admiring the famous sunsets is an essential part of any Negril holiday. Negril also offers a nice range of restaurants with plenty of economic Jamaican specialities alongside classy hotel dining. A trip to Negril is not complete without a visit to Negril Point Lighthouse or a look at the Black River crocodiles and the lush surrounding countryside. Other worthwhile excursions include colonial mansions, superb waterfalls, plantations, a rum factory and the Bob Marley Museum.

Jamaica Tourism Enhancement Fee

From May 1st 2005 Jamaica has introduced a US$10 "Jamaican tourist entry charge" which will apply to each tourist visiting Jamaica . The tourist entry fee money will be paid directly to the government in an effort to raise funds to maintain Jamaica’s tourist industry and provide capital for tourism enhancement projects.
