Falmouth Things To Do

Beaches
The tropical beaches around Falmouth are generally unspoilt, and feature powder-white sands and lush vegetation. The gently sloping sands offer safe swimming for children, with the whole beach ideal for quiet relaxation.

Scuba Diving
The north coast of Jamaica is a fantastic spot for scuba-diving, and there are excellent sites around the coast of Falmouth, with the clear warm waters of the Caribbean helping to create ideal conditions to explore the off-shore coral reefs.

Water Sports
Falmouth is a major kite surfing and windsurfing destination, and, as well as equipment rental, there are lessons, courses and clinics for all levels of surfer. In addition to the surfing and diving, snorkelling, jet skiing, water skiing and parasailing is available.

Boat Trips
Fishing charters are offered from the resort, and there are glass-bottomed boat trips departing from Montego Bay, as well as sunset cruises and snorkelling excursions along the coast. One of the most popular boat trips features an evening cruise to the fascinating Glistening Waters, home to the Luminous Lagoon with its range of glowing sea creatures that can be seen at night, thanks to the luminous micro-organisms present in the water.

Sports
Hotels offer tennis, volleyball, basketball and shuffleboard in the resort, and there are a number of golf courses on the island, including one at neighbouring Montego Bay, as well as Negril and Ocho Rios. ATV bike tours and safaris are also available around the area.

Horse Riding
There are stables in Falmouth, and trail rides for all levels, from beginner to expert. Treks lead riders along scenic coastal trails, or through the tropical countryside, with its lush sugar plantations inland.

River Cruises
Sail along the calm waters of the Martha Brae River on an exhilarating bamboo raft cruise - a great chance to experience the beauty of the countryside, and follow the story of a local legend. Canoeing and kayaking can also be enjoyed on the river.

Historical Sights
The well-preserved Georgian town has a number of sights and places to visit, including the Albert George Shopping and Historical Centre, Greenwood Great House (one of the best antique museums in the Caribbean), the Good Hope Plantation and the 18th-century churches of the town, as well as the collection of grand colonial mansions still standing.
