Jamaica holidays

Jamaica holidays

Jamaica holidays attract a wide variety of holidaymakers. Families on holiday in Jamaica enjoy the superb beaches, golfers are attracted by first-class courses and divers and watersport enthusiasts are drawn by superb coral reefs and excellent conditions. Upmarket Jamaica hotels and all inclusive Jamaica holidays attract those looking for luxury and total relaxation. Others choose Jamaica for the country’s unique laid-back atmosphere, its strong culture and the reggae. All inclusive holidays in Jamaica feature excellent restaurants and live shows but it’s always worth seeking out the spicy local cuisine, tropical fruits and the great beer. If you are lucky your Jamaica holidays will coincide with a carnival – not to be missed!

Some of the best beaches in the world

Holidays in Jamaica centre on the fabulous beaches. Beaches in Jamaica are an idyllic mix of swaying palms, fine gently shelving golden sand and gorgeous warm clear water. Lively holidays can be had in the major north-coast resorts of Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, while a quieter Jamaica can be found in the characterful old Georgian town of Falmouth or laid-back smaller resorts like Runaway Bay. The larger resorts are bursting with market stalls and duty-free shopping. The famous west coast resort of Negril offers Jamaica holidays with a more rustic “alternative” feel. The beaches around Negril are considered among the finest beaches in Jamaica.

Fascinating excursions and activities

Holidays in Jamaica are famous for beaches but Jamaica holidays also offer excellent excursions and plenty of activities from river rafting to horse-riding and deep-sea fishing. Holidays in Jamaica are not complete without a little exploration of the lush tropical green hills found inland from the coast. Jamaica holidays could include trips to coffee and pineapple plantations, colonial mansions, crocodile farms, nature reserves, fantastic caves and waterfalls and attractions like the Bob Marley Mausoleum. Whether swimming with dolphins or enjoying a reggae beach party Jamaica holidays offer a unique and unforgettable mix!

Tourism Enhancement Fee

From May 1st 2005 Jamaica’s has introduced a US$10 "Jamaican tourist entry charge" which will apply to each tourist visiting Jamaica . The tourist entry fee money will be paid directly to the government in an effort to raise funds to maintain Jamaica’s tourist industry and provide capital for tourism enhancement projects.
