things to do in grenada

Diving
Diving holidays in Grenada give you the chance to dive to spectacular sunken cruise liners and wrecked cargo ships. Dive sites around Carriacou include a submarine volcano and 180ft reef walls. There are many dive centres on the island and basic scuba dives will only cost around £20 with rental of equipment at £5.

Whale watching

Humpback whale watching in Grenada lasts from December to April during the migration season. A truly unforgettable experience, the excursions can last five hours and will include food and drink. You can also spot pilot whales and if you want to brave the waters, swim with dolphins.

Sailing
Sailing in Grenada is a popular holiday activity. The coastline of Grenada is dotted with secluded beaches, little coves and sheltered harbours. Many of the chartered sail-boats and catamarans will anchor to allow diving, snorkelling and swimming, and year round there is usually some form of sailing regatta to be found on the island.

Windsurfing and Waterskiing
The warm water temperatures make windsurfing and waterskiing in Grenada very popular pastimes. There are numerous water sport centres around the island that will rent equipment at inexpensive prices. The Moorings' Club Mariner Watersports Centre at Secret Harbour provide speedboat trips to Hog Island, where you can waterski, windsurf and snorkel.

Sports

Grenada is well equipped for the most ardent fan of cricket, soccer and golf. Cricket is the island's main sport but all around the island you will find locals playing a variety of sports. The Grenada Golf and Country Club, Woodlands, boasts a nine-hole golf course and many of the hotels in Grenada have tennis courts that are also open to non-residents. You can play volleyball at the Aquarium Beach Club or explore the island on horseback from one of the many horse-riding centres around Grenada.

Beaches
As you would expect from a Caribbean island, Grenada has 45 beaches, the best of which are in the southwest such as the stretch of white sand at the Grand Anse area. Beaches in Grenada can get crowded during the summer season but you can easily still find a secluded oasis such as Mourne Rouge, Levera and Bathway that are great for snorkelling.
